I am thrilled to be in the Top 10 of the Hattember Millinery Competition!
Hosted by Hatters Millinery Supplies the challenge was to design and make a piece for the theme Beyond the Bloom with a pack of set materials which included a parisisal straw, starbright braid, pleated crinoline and petersham ribbon.
The piece I designed and made is called the Zinnia beret. It celebrates a bright and light feel to the floral theme and trend. The pleated crinoline grows out from the center of the braid-wrapped buds to replicate the layered petals and line of the outside of the beautiful Zinnia flower.
The beret that is constructed from lemon parisisal straw is worn down over the right eye with the flowers floating by the face and growing up towards the sky.
